|Title||Promotion of the Private Sector (PPS)|
|Type of project||Sustainable Economic Development|
|Client||Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoTI), Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) |
and further business service providers
|Origin of funding||Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Eschborn, Germany|
|Duration||06/2003 - 09/2006|
The project supported international and local investors as well as Ghanaian exporters to develop their business activities and to realise their investment plans more efficiently and effectively.
The unfavourable general economic and political conditions and an underdeveloped institutional environment did not support the private sector sufficiently in its investment and export activities. Therefore, institution and capacity building activities were implemented. The capacity and the ability of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) were strengthened, aiming to attract and serve foreign and domestic investors more effectively. Additional policy advice enabled selected public and private organisations to incorporate best practice experience into sector policy formulation and implementation.
