The project assisted in the development and implementation of a dual orientated vocational training system for non-academic manufacturing and technical professions.

Main activities were carried out in the fields of legal framework development; chamber work;organisation and administration;co-operation with social partners;gender and evaluation;development of training materials;train-the-trainer; planning of vocational training; analyses of qualification and demand; examination system; certification; and quality of vocational education.

The advisory phase comprised an analysis of existing experiences in vocational education in co-operation with local institutions and the private economic sector. 

Following this, skilled trade professions and training centres were selected. During the extension phase based on the experiences of the first phase, training programmes were adapted and consolidated, as well as new training programmes elaborated and applied.

A national vocational education institution participated actively. In the consolidation phase, system and methodology were consolidated for enabling the vocational education administration of Burkina Faso, in co-operation with the private sector, to make education methods topic, to research on the labour market and to anticipate in new developments.
