As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015 in Myanmar a conference and entrepreneur’s exposition took place on 16 November in Taunggyi, Shan State. The event was organised by the Women Entrepreneurs Working Group in Shan State and supported by the GIZ program Private Sector Development in Myanmar.

Local entrepreneurs had the possibility of showing their products at exhibition stands and booths and presenting their own businesses in the exhibition hall. The event was an open event to the public.

Daw Yin Myo Su (Managing Director of Inle Princess Group, founder of Inthar Heritage House Training Centre and Foundation) stated in her speech that “It is very important to consider and achieve ‘collective-success’ in our business world instead of ‘single-success’. Achieving success through good cooperation with others will enable us to face challenges and barriers easier and conqueror all difficulties. Through cooperation, we improve our skills and knowledge by learning from others.”

Also Daw Yin Win Thu (Founder and President of M.N.T Co.Ltd) underlined in her speech that “it is crucial to foster organizational development in every business. Things are changing very fast and we need to adapt with new things every day in business.”

U Thar Htet (Managing Director of Zwenexsys International Limited) stressed the importance of information and communication technology in his speech to the female entrepreneurs from Shan State: “Myanmar entrepreneurs should utilize the availability, strength and power of ICT in their business operation. It will be good investment for regional competition and good preparation for global competition which is coming soon.”

Female entrepreneurs from Shan State who had this year started to establish a Women Entrepreneurship Working Group and strengthen their cooperation stated that they were “very happy to see all business-women with all the different strengths and abilities. It is a very beautiful event to share and exchange our experiences, daily challenges and encourage each other.” It come obvious “that women can actually do every business. In the past, e.g. car-tyre trading and natural energy production were handled only by men. Today, it can be seen that women in both sectors became successful business-women showing their products and services at the exhibition-event.”
