Project Manager - International Development Consulting

We are looking for a full-time Project Manager working together with our interdisciplinary team in PEM Consult’s headquarters located in Düsseldorf, Germany. Since nearly 45 years, PEM Consult has been successfully implementing projects in international development cooperation aiming at sustainable solutions in economic development, education and environment. The regional focus of our work are the countries in South-East Europe, North Africa and the Mediterranean, Central and South-East Asia as well as Sub-Saharan Africa. Our major clients are GIZ, KfW, EU and other international development banks.

Key tasks related to the position will be as follows:

  • Management of ongoing projects (technical and financial administration, monitoring of project progress and results), Düsseldorf-based
  • Project management support to our teams in the field, with regular visits to the project country depending on the needs
  • Support in the acquisition of new projects in relevant fields of expertise – a.o. selecting tender opportunities, setting up pre-qualification documents, application and tender management, recruit consultants and establish teams, assist in cost calculations
  • Represent PEM Consult and establish professional communication and networking with partners and beneficiaries, clients, consultants, companies and institutions 
  • Elaboration of reports, concepts and presentations and contribution to our knowledge and quality management

We look for the following profile and qualifications of job applicants:

  • University degree with 3 - 5 years of work experience as a project manager or comparable position
  • Fluency in German and English is required, proficiency in French is an asset
  • Organisational skills with a sense of pragmatism
  • Strong team working, excellent communication and writing skills 
  • Committed engagement and service orientation
  • Interest in aims and policies of the international development sector; practical experience in a developing or transition country is an asset
