Project Manager - Architect / Civil Engineer
We are seeking a qualified Project Manager (architect or civil engineer) to join our team in Düsseldorf. In this role, you will provide backstopping and technical support to our international project teams to ensure that project results are achieved to the full satisfaction of our clients. You will also be involved in the acquisition of such implementation projects, usually related to the design and construction supervision of educational facilitiessuch as schools, vocational training centres and universities.
Key tasks related to the position will be as follows:
- Contribute conceptually to the preparation of tenders, feasibility studies, and project proposals
- Provide technical and managerial backstopping to international and national project teams in the field of educational infrastructure
- Review and advise on project designs, cost estimates, and implementation timetables
- Coordinate and communicate with partners, clients, and subcontractors to ensure quality, compliance, and timely delivery
- Support on-site missions for supervision and quality assurance during the construction phase
- Undertake regular short-term missions to partner countries for project coordination and monitoring
- Contribute to the project reporting (technical, administrative, financial)
We look for the following profile and qualifications:
- University degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering (Master or equivalent)
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the planning/management of construction projects, preferably in the education sector
- At least 2 years of experience with donor-funded infrastructure programs (KfW, GIZ, EU, or similar)
- Sound knowledge of construction planning, design standards, and supervision procedures in an international context
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with intercultural competence
- Routine use of design software (CAD), MS Office, and of cloud-based cooperation platforms and online conference tools
- Fluency in English and German. French would be an advantage
