The Pan African University (PAU) is a continental initiative of the African Union (AU) to revitalize higher education and research in Africa. In 2008, the African Union decided to establish a Pan African University (PAU) as an institution of the AU. It was planned to be exemplary for quality, relevance and the enhancement of PanAfrican integration in higher education and science. The aim is to close the gaps in the African Higher Education landscape and catch up with international standards in higher education and research, and to train young Africans to become the continent’s future leaders in the areas of science, technology, governance, public administration, business and civil society. PAU is intended as an academic continental network of higher education institutes of excellence for postgraduate studies and advanced research at the core of Africa’s development. The impact of PAU will ultimately tackle the problem of brain drain and improve the employability of its graduates.

One of the institutes of the PAU is the PAU Institute for Water and Energy Sciences (including Climate Change) (PAUWES) hosted in Northern Africa at the Abou Bekr Belkaid University of Tlemcen in Algeria. Currently, PAUWES offers 4 graduate programs: A Master of Science (MSc) in Water Engineering, MSc in Water Policy, MSc in Energy Engineering and an MSc in Energy Policy. PAUWES trains students to become engineers and policy analysts, able to address Africa’s most pressing development challenges. PAUWES offers graduate students access to leading academic research and the latest theoretical and hands-on training in areas vital to the future of African development: Water, Energy and the challenge of Climate Change. As secure water supply and innovative energy sources are of vital importance for the future of sustainable growth on the African continent, the institute is seeking to train a new generation of highly educated, well-trained students, who are committed to this goal.

The consultancy/contractor shall support PAU and PAUWES to consolidate Career and entrepreneurship strategy and activities, to strengthen the Coordination of career service and entrepreneurship activities at PAU Rectorate level and finally to foster transversal activities between institutes in the field of Career Services and Entrepreneurship.
