An international consortium led by PEM was awarded with the KfW-financed FC project “Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programme - Construction of Schools and Procurement of Training Equipment” in Afghanistan in December 2010. This project started in January 2011 and is scheduled to end in June 2014.
PEM is acting on behalf of the employer, the Afghan Ministry of Education (MoE). The core team was mobilized in January 2011, while the PEM Design Office in Dubai (VAE) was established subsequently.
Objectives:

Design, construction and extension of vocational education and training institutions;

Definition, specification and procurement of teaching and training equipment for the Programme institutions;

Initial training and start-up support for operation and maintenance (O&M) of equipment, building and infrastructure.
Achievements:

Urgent measures (new water tank, electrical works, sanitary facilities, etc.) at the KMI in Kabul completed (for further information please refer to page 9 of the attached BMZ Newsletter);

Tender documents incl. Technical Specifications, Drawings and Bill of Quantities (BoQs) for 4 envisaged VET facilities completed.
